Wim obtained a B. Proc degree from the University of Pretoria and also completed a Diploma in Insolvency Law. In 1987 he started his career in the Department of Justice and worked in the office of the Master of the High Court Pretoria for 12 years gaining valuable experience in the administration of deceased and insolvent estates. He later joined a multi-national firm of chartered accountants as a trust and estates consultant, specialising in estate planning, the drafting of wills and trust deeds. He then proceeded to be manager of fiduciary services and acted as professional executor and independent trustee at one of the largest independent trust companies.
Wim is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He is furthermore qualified as Estate and Financial Planning Practitioner, Senior Estates Administrator, Trust Administrator and Senior Wills Drafter (FISA), as Fiduciary Practitioner South Africa and has been awarded the professional designation FPSA®. He qualified as Trust and Estate Practitioner and has been awarded the professional designation TEP® - Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (England & Wales) and is registered at SARS as a General Tax Practitioner GTP(SA).
He also holds memberships at the Law Society of the Northern Provinces (LSNP), the Fiduciary Institute of South Africa (FISA), the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT).
In January 2017 Wim joined Du Plessis – Viviers Inc as professional assistant in charge of wills, trusts and estates.
